At the Challenging Behaviour Network we recognise the importance that working alongside people who experience Autism or a Learning Diability has on their lives, on our training and the impact of training for staff.
We have training partners that are experienced in training and able to deliver alongside our directors. In the past we have delivered to National conferences for the NMC, BILD, Challenging Behaviour Foundation, as well as for local authorities and private organisiations.
We can offer training in
Learning Disability - Learning from History. This course provides commissioners with an opportunity to explore the world of learning disabilities from a service user point of view, through the policy and legislation of different eras and the experience of a gentleman who has lived throught these policies and what that meant for him. His story is particularly poignant and serves as a reminder of what has happened and in some cases is still happening. The course is brought fully uptodate with a look at the Bournwood gap and its impact on the development of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
Autism - The Self that Sally Built. This course gives a rarely heard voice to those living with Autism. Our speaker is a lady who has experienced autism all her life but has only recently recieved a diagnosis. Through her interpretation of her Autism and the trainers input on the more theoretical issues we are able to offer a course that provides staff with an insight into those people that they are working with who experience autism and give them some tools to try and develop their skills in their everyday work.
Challenging Behaviour: Why, and what does it mean? This course will use the real life experiences of those who we co-train with to explain why people use Challenging Behaviour. Our understanding of this can be very fixed in relation to our own experiences. The trainer will help participants to recognise challenging behaviour in all it's foms and develop strategies to deal with it, when understood from a service user point of view.
Other courses are available and we are happy to discuss your needs and develop bespoke sevices.
